Ahavat Yeshua Messianic Congregation
Indianapolis, INAhavat Yeshua is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Indianapolis. It gathers for Shabbat every Friday evening at 7:30, and the service usually runs 75 to 80 minutes. Congregational Leader Sam Stevens leads the community, which is member-governed with an elected board. People from Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds make up the congregation, united by faith in Yeshua. They believe He is "the promised Messiah of Israel and the Savior for all people." The whole Bible, Tanakh and Brit Chadashah, is held to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God. Shabbat and the Feasts are observed together as a congregation, and baptism is by immersion. Worship opens with Shabbat and other Jewish blessings, including the Shema and Aleinu. Hebrew prayers and Torah readings sit alongside practical teaching centered on Yeshua, given by Sam Stevens or other speakers. Contemporary Messianic music often carries Hebrew phrases, and Israeli folk dancing is part of worship. No Hebrew is needed, since English translations are given aloud or on screen. About once a month the community shares the Lord's Supper with matzah and grape juice. An Oneg Shabbat sometimes follows on Friday evening or Saturday. A Shabbat school runs during the service for school-aged children. A prayer meeting gathers on Tuesday nights.AMC
Ben David Messianic Jewish Congregation
Orange, CABen David Messianic Jewish Congregation gathers in Orange, California, every Shabbat morning at 10:30. Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua worship together, with Hebraic worship, Davidic dance and Bible teaching from a Jewish perspective. A prayer meeting begins at 9:00, before the service. The name means "Son of David," chosen to keep the focus on the person of the Jewish Messiah. The congregation states its vision plainly: "To restore the Jewishness of the Gospel." Many of its members are Jewish, and they hold that acknowledging Yeshua as Messiah does not cost anyone their heritage. Ben David teaches that Israel remains God's chosen people, distinct within the body of Messiah, and that Israel's election is irrevocable. It affirms Yeshua's full deity and full humanity. Salvation, it holds, comes by grace through faith in Yeshua alone, for Jew and Gentile. It believes Jewish and non-Jewish believers are both free to keep aspects of the Laws of Moses as the Lord leads them. Salvation has never come from keeping those laws. Shabbat School serves children from preschool through high school, using Messianic curriculum that follows the Jewish calendar and the biblical feasts. A nursery is available for the youngest. Hebrew classes run at beginning and intermediate levels, with a Torah reading class as well. The community holds monthly Sisterhood and men's fellowship meetings and keeps a prison ministry of letters, gifts and visits. Doug Friedman founded Ben David and serves as its Messianic Rabbi Emeritus.MessianicAMC
Beth Messiah Messianic Congregation
Livingston, NJBeth Messiah is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Livingston, New Jersey, established in 1983. Jews and Gentiles gather there for worship, prayer and the study of God's Word. Shabbat service begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m., both on-site and online. The service includes praise and worship, the Shema and other Hebrew liturgy, a reading from the weekly Torah or Haftarah portion, and teaching. A Kiddush table with refreshments follows. The congregation holds that Yeshua of Nazareth is the Messiah promised in the Jewish Bible for both Jews and Gentiles. It affirms the Shema and teaches that God is a Tri-unity. Israel's election is irrevocable, in its view, and the body of Messiah is distinct from Israel. On the Law of Moses, Beth Messiah teaches that Jewish and non-Jewish believers are free to observe it or not. Such observance, it holds, carries no saving or sanctifying benefit. For Jewish believers, it understands these observances as expressions of a God-given Jewish identity. The congregation describes itself as independent, with friendly ties to other Messianic Jewish groups. Irving Salzman was installed as Messianic Pastor/Rabbi on June 2, 2001. He grew up in a traditional Jewish home and attended a yeshiva run by the Lubavitcher Hasidim. Children's classes through age 12, a teen program and a supervised nursery run during Shabbat. The community also holds Hebrew classes, home Bible studies, Jewish holiday services, a Passover Seder and Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation.AMC
Beth Yeshua Congregation
Las Vegas, NVBeth Yeshua Messianic Congregation gathers in Las Vegas every Friday night at 7:30 for its weekly Shabbat celebration. Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob together. Services include prayer, songs, davidic dancing, Scripture teaching and an oneg of food and fellowship. Shabbat school runs during the service for children ages 4 to 12, and a nursery is available. The congregation holds that Yeshua is the promised Messiah of Israel and affirms his deity, atoning death and bodily resurrection. Its faith, focus and lifestyle are Jewish. Even so, it says it "will never put Jewishness (or anything else) above Yeshua." Jewish and Gentile believers are understood as one body in Messiah. For Jewish believers, the congregation is a place to express a God-given Jewish identity. Gentile believers find room to discover the Jewish roots of the faith and to identify with the Jewish community. Salvation is taught as by grace through faith, and Torah is not held necessary for salvation or sanctification. Israel's future restoration as a nation is read from a literal understanding of prophecy. Dr. Rich Hill and his wife Oanh lead the congregation. He leads all services and teaching, and she leads worship through davidic dance. Both serve as ministry representatives for CJF Ministries. Together they present The Watchmen, a Bible teaching program on Israel, prophecy and the feasts. Dr. Rich also leads campus outreach at UNLV. The congregation holds its own gatherings for Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot.MessianicAMC
Congregation Beth Simcha
San Antonio, TXCongregation Beth Simcha calls itself "a Messianic Jewish Synagogue, proclaiming Yeshua as the Messiah." Its mission is to provide a Biblically Jewish context for New Covenant faith and life. Each Saturday, Shabbat School meets at 9:30 a.m. The Shabbat service follows at 10:30 a.m. Bringing Jew and Gentile together in harmony is central to its vision. Yeshua has broken down the middle wall of partition between them, the congregation holds, and both are to worship together. Jewish believers in Yeshua, it teaches, have not separated themselves from their heritage and remain sons and daughters of Israel. Gentiles who trust in Israel's Messiah are understood as spiritually sons and daughters of Israel. Faith here is expressed in a Jewish style. Each person is free to express their own cultural heritage within the Body of Messiah. Beth Simcha affirms the Tenach and the B'rit Chadashah together as the infallible and authoritative Word of God. It holds to the deity of Yeshua HaMashiach and to cleansing from sin by grace through faith in His shed blood. The gifts of Ruach HaKodesh, it teaches, are for believers today. Matzah and wine are shared as symbols of the Lord's death and resurrection. Believers are immersed in the mikveh as an outward sign of an inward salvation experience.AMC
Sha'ar HaShamayim Messianic Congregation
Stoughton, MASha'ar Hashamayim Messianic Congregation gathers in the center of Stoughton, Massachusetts, on Boston's South Shore. Shabbat service is held Friday evenings at 7:30. Gatherings bring together Biblical teaching, music and worship, dancing, fellowship and shared nosh. Rabbi Henry Morse leads the community, which belongs to the Association of Messianic Congregations. The congregation exists so that Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua can worship, study and grow in faith together. It also reaches out to the Jewish community with a message of hope through Yeshua. Another aim is to teach the wider church "the Jewish nature of the Gospel." Scripture, in their understanding, includes both the Tanach and the Brit Chadashah. They affirm the deity of the Messiah and hold that salvation comes by grace through faith in Yeshua. God remains in covenant relationship with Israel, they believe, and will keep His promise of the land. In congregational life, they teach, there is no division between Jew and Gentile. The Biblical feasts are kept by the Karaite calendar, a conviction the congregation places on no one else. The fall festivals include Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur with a break-the-fast meal, Sukkot and Shimini Atzeret. An adult Bible study meets Tuesdays at 7 pm. Bible and Bagels meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at 11 am. Men's and women's groups meet on Saturdays, and the community runs homeless and prison ministries.MessianicAMC
