How listings are chosen

Messianic.co lists congregations and resources that hold to Messianic Jewish theology. This page explains how we decide, how products are reviewed, and how AI is used.

The inclusion test

A listing is in when it affirms Messianic Jewish theology. It is out when its teaching places it in Hebrew Roots, Sacred Name or Two House. Four points decide it.

  1. אYeshua is the Messiah of Israel.
  2. בּGod’s covenant with the Jewish people is ongoing. This site rejects replacement theology in all its forms.
  3. גJewish identity and practice are honored, not appropriated or imitated as a costume.
  4. דThe listing does not erase the distinction between Jews and Gentiles. It does not teach that Gentile believers are physical Israel (Two House or Ephraimite teaching), require Sacred Names, or reject Paul, the Apostolic Writings or Yeshua’s deity.

A One Law view of Gentile Torah obligation is not disqualifying by itself. Teaching that Gentiles should keep the Torah is acceptable when the first three points are affirmed.

How it is checked

Affiliation membership counts as a pass. That covers UMJC, MJAA/IAMCS, Tikkun America and congregations planted by Chosen People Ministries.

Independent listings are checked against their statement of faith and a sample of their content.

Gray cases, usually teaching that blurs Jewish and Gentile identity, are decided by the editor and recorded in a private note. Anyone who is declined gets a short, kind reply that links to this page.

Messianic Jewish, Messianic and Jewish roots

Most listings are Messianic Jewish congregations: they identify themselves as Messianic Jewish.

Some listings are Messianic congregations: churches with real Messianic congregational life that don’t describe themselves as Messianic Jewish.

Jewish-roots ministries are Christian churches that honor the faith’s Jewish heritage.

Each listing shows which it is.

Gentile Torah observance

This directory does not settle how far Gentile believers are obligated to the Torah, because the movement itself disagrees. UMJC, MJAA/IAMCS and Tikkun America approach it differently.

Instead, each listing can carry one stance tag that visitors can filter by.

  • Distinct Jewish and Gentile callings
  • Gentile observance welcomed
  • One Law

A tag describes a listing. It never ranks one. It appears only when the listing states its stance or the owner selects one.

The wording of these labels may still change.

Product reviews

Products such as books, music, curriculum and apps are reviewed. Each of five dimensions is scored from 1 to 5 with a sentence of reasoning. The published review shows every score and a one-paragraph verdict.

DimensionThe question it answers
Jewish heritageDoes it treat Jewish people, Torah and practice with respect and accuracy?
Messianic Jewish theologyDoes it teach from a Messianic Jewish frame rather than a church or Hebrew Roots frame?
Hebrew and practice accuracyAre Hebrew, transliteration, holidays and customs correct?
QualityIs it well made for its purpose? That means age fit and prep time for curriculum, production for music, accuracy for books.
ValueIs it worth the price for a family or congregation?

Three rules

  • Congregations are never reviewed. They get a written profile, not a rating.
  • The publisher never reviews its own products. Those show a profile and the publisher tag, or a signed guest review.
  • Paid placement never changes a score. Every review says so.

The “From the publisher” tag

Messianic.co is published by NewCulture Consulting, LLC, which also runs some of the resources listed here. These include Kavodah, The Ancient Way, Revayah and the Shalom app.

Every such listing carries a visible From the publisher tag, so no one has to wonder who stands behind it.

How AI is used

  • AI drafts listing profiles from the listing’s own public website. A human checks every fact before it is published.
  • AI may help research a review. It never assigns a score or writes the verdict.
  • There are no AI-generated testimonials, ratings or quotes, ever.
  • Each profile shows when it was last verified and by whom.

Removal

An owner can ask to be delisted, and the listing is removed within a week. A listing that later fails the inclusion test is hidden, and its owner is told why. To ask, write to jon@newculture.co.
