Messianic Jewish congregation · Chandler, AZ
Beth Emanuel is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Chandler, Arizona, where Jews and non-Jews worship together as believers in Yeshua. The community seeks to honor its Jewish heritage and to restore the relationship between Israel and the Church. Saturdays begin with a Torah service at 9:00, followed by a worship service at 10:30 and an oneg potluck at 12:30.
The Saturday morning service is informal, given to worship and the study of Scripture. Songs familiar to Christians, Jews and longtime Messianic believers fill the service, and a dance ministry is open to anyone who wants to join. The Sh'ma and the Aaronic Benediction are part of the service. Rabbi Israel Nelson grew up in Tiberias, Israel, and his teaching usually draws on the Hebrew language. He has led Beth Emanuel since 2013.
The congregation describes itself as "Spirit-filled" and believes the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still valid today. It holds that Yeshua is the Messiah the Jewish prophets foretold. God, it teaches, has not rejected or replaced Israel and the Jewish people. The biblical holidays and Sabbaths are celebrated as a picture of the kingdom of God. Beth Emanuel takes no official position on One Law doctrine. After the service, a prayer team is available. A nursery and classes for children ages 6 to 12 meet, with special lessons during the holidays.
