Messianic Jewish congregation · St. Augustine, FL
Elim Messianic Congregation takes its name from the oasis of twelve springs and seventy palm trees in Exodus 15:27. The congregation calls itself "a modern oasis with ancient roots" and a place of rest. It belongs to Tikkun America, a network of Messianic congregations in North America. Jews and Gentiles from many nationalities worship together, honoring both the Jewish and Christian histories of the faith.
Teaching centers on the biblical covenants, culminating in the New Covenant through Yeshua the Messiah. The congregation holds that God's covenant with Israel, the Jewish people, is everlasting. It understands the Torah as the constitution of the Jewish people and of the Messianic Jewish community. For believers from the nations, Torah has a different role. It offers them spiritual nourishment and practical teaching. Elim seeks the mutual blessing of Jew and Gentile as "One New Man." It affirms the Tanakh and Brit Hadasha as inspired and fully trustworthy, and it values the gifts of the Ruach HaKodesh.
Laban and Shenette Doyle serve as congregational leaders, alongside a team of elder couples who are both Messianic Jewish and Christian. Paul Blake founded the congregation. Life groups, a women's ministry and a Children's Shabbat School are part of congregational life.
