Messianic congregation · Boynton Beach, FL
L'Chaim Messianic Congregation gathers in Wellington, in Palm Beach County, Florida, and has served the surrounding area since 2003. The name means "to life." The congregation calls itself "a congregation of Jews and non-Jews who believe Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Messiah of Israel." Its stated aim is to reach local Jewish people with the message of Yeshua as the risen Messiah.
Members who are Jewish by birth consider themselves "completed Jews," while those from non-Jewish families are understood as spiritually grafted into Israel. The congregation teaches that the Tenach and the Brit Chadashah together are the inspired Word of God. It holds that God gave the Torah for righteous living in every generation, and that Yeshua came to fulfill it. Salvation, it affirms, is a free gift received through faith in Yeshua's atoning work. It also believes Israel as a nation will one day accept Yeshua. L'Chaim is a congregation of The Alliance Southeast.
Shabbat services run Saturdays from 11:00 to 1:00 and are streamed on Facebook Live. Worship draws liturgical prayers and Torah reading from traditional Jewish services, joined with Messianic praise and dance. Bruce Elman, the congregation leader, then brings a message from Scripture. He leads alongside Suzi Elman. Shabbat School for children through age 13 meets at the same hour. An Oneg Shabbat lunch follows the service, and Bible study comes after. The community also has a sisterhood, a men's group and a Wednesday evening prayer meeting held by phone.
