Messianic congregation · Pittsburgh, PA
Maoz Tzur, also known as Rock of Ages, is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Pittsburgh. Jewish and non-Jewish people belong to the community, which celebrates Yeshua "in a biblically Jewish way." Its gatherings take place in space lent by a local church. When offered, a Messianic Jewish Shabbat service is usually held on the first Saturday of the month. Home fellowships meet throughout the Pittsburgh area.
The congregation celebrates Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel and the Lord and Savior of all mankind. It affirms the authority of both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. The New Testament, it believes, fulfills the Hebrew Bible and does not contradict it. God has not rejected His people, the congregation holds. Believers are called to pray for the Jewish people and to bring the good news to them first. Its stated calling is to help Jewish people know the Messiah.
Purim, Passover, Tabernacles and other biblical holidays are marked with traditional Jewish songs and foods and a lesson from Scripture. The community also remembers Tisha b'Av, Yom haShoah and Yom haAtzmaut. Concerts, presentations and seminars are offered at its own location or elsewhere. Gatherings can also be followed online. The congregation organizes trips to Israel.
