Messianic Jewish congregation · Golden, CO
Or Chaim Congregation meets in Golden, Colorado, for Shabbat service every Saturday at 11 AM. Stewart and Millie Lieberman serve as its congregational leaders. Before coming to Denver, they lived in Israel and helped lead a Hebrew-speaking Messianic Jewish congregation in Tel Aviv.
The congregation holds that God's covenant with Israel, the Jewish people, is everlasting. It teaches that the Torah is God's gift to Israel and the constitution of the Messianic Jewish community. For communities from the nations, the Torah has a different role. There it provides spiritual nourishment as a witness to the Messiah. Yeshua is affirmed as the Divine Son, a Jewish Messiah who fulfilled the mitzvot of the Torah without blemish. Messiah's community is understood as one community, expressed in diverse forms within the Jewish people and among the nations. Or Chaim values Jewish tradition as "the living link" to the biblical past. It also draws on the Christian theological tradition.
Worship blends traditional and contemporary Hebrew music with contemporary Christian music. Hebraic dance, banners, flags, prophetic art, poetry and drama belong to its worship arts. An Oneg usually follows Shabbat service, and the community has gathered for a summer Havdalah. Its calendar includes the fall feasts of Rosh HaShanah, Succoth and Simchat Torah.
