Ministry or organization
Streams in the Desert, also called Afikim ba'Negev, is a ministry to single mothers, widows and their children in Israel's Negev. Founder and director Marianna Gol, a Russian-born believer in Yeshua, began the work in 2008 in the Beer Sheva area. It describes its aim as bringing restoration to families at risk "through the power of the Gospel and acts of service."
Staff offer counseling, mentoring and parenting skills to mothers. Children and youth take part in clubs, biweekly gatherings, an annual Passover hike and a summer camp. Younger children receive English lessons, arts and crafts and Bible training. Volunteers help with home repairs, and intercessors pray during camps. Some families are referred by Beer Sheva social services.
