About

The Ancient Way is a teaching ministry led by Jon Horton. Its stated mission is to connect people to the ancient roots of the Christian faith by embracing the Jewishness of Jesus. It describes itself as a bridge from the Christian community into Messianic Jewish community.

Through teaching, storytelling and community, it focuses on Sabbath, the biblical feasts or moedim, the Torah and God's covenants with Israel. It publishes articles on topics such as Passover, Purim and the yearly dates of the biblical holidays. It offers a free Messianic Sabbath guide with practical tips for keeping a weekly day of rest. It also provides resources for children, including a printable Purim coloring activity book. The Ancient Way Podcast features Jon and Jim discussing how they came to keep Sabbath and the feasts, with episodes such as "Should Christians Celebrate Passover?"

Horton tells of leaving a staff role at a large megachurch and passing through a season of doubt. He describes the Sabbath as the starting point of a rebuilt faith centered on a Jewish Messiah who lived the Torah. The ministry holds that God's everlasting covenant with Israel stands and that Jew and Gentile are meant to worship the God of Israel together. It challenges replacement theology.

Horton was first ordained into ministry at NewSpring Church. He is pursuing a master's degree in Messianic Jewish studies from MJTI. He is active in a Messianic Jewish synagogue near Raleigh, North Carolina.
