Messianic Jewish congregation · Albuquerque, NM
Adat Yeshua Messianic Synagogue gathers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Shabbat mornings at 10:00. The name means "Congregation of Yeshua," drawing on the Torah's phrase Adat Yisrael, the Congregation of Israel. Jews and Gentiles worship the God of Israel together, and fellowship is open to both. Jamie Shapiro serves as congregational leader and is a founding member.
The congregation holds that Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel and affirms his deity. Salvation, it teaches, is a gift of grace through faith alone in him. Its members understand Yeshua as a loyal Jew who came to fulfill the Torah and the Prophets, not to start a new religion. Jewish believers, they teach, are called to maintain their Jewish biblical heritage and remain part of the people Israel. That identity is described as "a witness to the faithfulness of God."
Adat Yeshua rejects replacement theology and affirms Israel's covenant callings and promises. It also stands apart from the Hebrew Roots, One Law, Two House and Sacred Name movements. Gentiles may keep the Law of Moses, though the community does not hold it binding on all Gentile believers. Shabbat School for children ages 4 to 9 meets after worship, from 11:00 to noon. The community also holds services for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah.
