Baruch Haba is a Messianic Jewish congregation that gathers in Nicholasville, Kentucky, and describes its home as the heart of the Bluegrass. Its name is how one says "welcome" in Hebrew. Shabbat services begin at 11 a.m. every Saturday and last about two hours.
The name points to three themes: Messianic, Jewish and congregation. Baruch Haba follows Yeshua as the Jewish Messiah and holds that he is the source of hope for Israel. Because he is Israel's Messiah, the congregation teaches, he is also the Savior of all nations. It strives to walk in continuity with Jewish heritage, calling and lifestyle. The community identifies both with the Jewish people and with the larger body of believers in Yeshua. Its stated goal is to "build a multi-generational Messianic Jewish family."
Worship aims to establish Jewish space. A service includes music, traditional liturgy, a Torah reading and teaching. Songs and liturgy mix English and Hebrew, and the Hebrew is often translated. Visitors are asked to dress modestly. On the second and fourth Shabbat of each month, the community stays for coffee and study from 2 to 3 p.m. The discussion covers the weekly Torah portion or other sections of Scripture. Baruch Haba also holds services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
