Congregation Beth Hallel

Messianic Jewish congregation · Mandeville, LA

About

Congregation Beth Hallel is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Mandeville, Louisiana, serving the southeastern part of the state. The community was meeting before Katrina. Its post-Katrina congregation has gathered continuously since Hanukkah 2005.

Beth Hallel describes Messianic Judaism as "the Jewish arm of the Body of Messiah." Worship is offered to HaShem, through Yeshua Ha Mashiach, by the Ruach Hakodesh, in a Jewish context. The congregation calls itself Torah based, with "a first century flavor," and reads Scripture with Jewish understandings. It holds that the Scriptures from Genesis through Revelation are the inerrant word of God. Yeshua is affirmed as fully God and fully man, born of the Jewish virgin Miriam. They believe His atoning sacrifice was for the sins of Israel and all mankind.

The community hopes to be a bridge for Jewish believers, interfaith married couples and seekers worshipping as one body. Drawing on Ephesians 2, it seeks to live in oneness (echad). Jew and Gentile, believer or not, are invited into fellowship. Rabbi David leads the congregation. Its calendar includes Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh, Bible studies and the feasts. Monthly and weekly readings of Parashat ha-Shavua, Haftarah and Brit Hadashah follow the full kriyah.
