El Beth El

Messianic Jewish congregation · France

About

El-Beth El is a Messianic Jewish community in Paris, led by Rabbi Emmanuel Rodriguez Perez. Every Shabbat it gathers in person in its qehila from 10:00 to 12:50. The service is also streamed live on YouTube. A Tuesday evening study meets from 19:00 to 21:00.

Shabbat morning opens with praise and recitation led by the hazan until 11:30. Prayer is sung or chanted, the hazan's melodies answered by the qehila. A teaching from Rav Emmanuel follows.

The community understands Messianic Judaism as a movement founded on the Bible that gathers Jews and non-Jews who believe in Yéshoua as Mashiah. Such believers, it holds, serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob while remaining faithful to Jewish customs and traditions. Drawing on Paul in Galatians 2, it teaches that a person is justified by faith in Yéshoua the Messiah, not by works of the law. Paul Ghenassia is remembered as founder of the Messianic assemblies of France and Belgium.

Through its TMPI Yeshiva platform, El-Beth El offers an introduction to Musar, psychology, Hebrew classes and courses with Rav Emmanuel. He has also written practical guides to the Jewish feasts. A weekly short teaching, "La pensée de la semaine," draws on the Scriptures. Broadcasts are also offered for a gathering called the Nuit de l'épouse.
