Kerem El Messianic Synagogue is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Fort Pierce, Florida, made up of Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Yeshua. Rabbi Yaacov and Rebbetzin Shari Zamstein lead the community. Drawing on Isaiah 56, they see their synagogue as a house of prayer for both Jew and non-Jew.
The congregation holds that Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel foretold in the Tenakh and the Hope of the Jewish people. It affirms God's eternal covenant with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants. It also believes God is gathering the Jewish people back to their land. In its teaching, the entire Torah is foundational to interpreting all Scripture. Its Torah scroll, about 200 years old and originally from Poland, survived the Holocaust. When the Torah is carried out of the ark, members touch it with their tzit-tzit and affirm "we will do and we will obey."
Shabbat morning begins with Davidic dance practice at 9:30, followed by the Shabbat service at 10:30. Worship pairs Davidic praise with traditional liturgy in Hebrew transliteration and English. Men customarily wear a kippah, and many wear a tallit during day services. A light nosh and Torah study follow the service. On the first Saturday of each month, a Shabbat Rishon service is followed by an oneg luncheon, with no pork or shellfish. Shabbat services stream live on YouTube and Facebook. A Wednesday Bible study meets online at 7:00.
