Remnant of Israel

Messianic congregation · Wichita, KS

About

Remnant of Israel is a Messianic synagogue in Wichita, Kansas, made up of Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Yeshua. Saturday mornings open at 9 with an open study and discussion of the week's Torah portion. The Shabbat service follows at 10. It brings prayer, praise and worship in music and dance, Shabbat School for children and a congregational message.

The community's mission is to bring the Good News of Yeshua "to the Jew first and then the Gentile." It holds that God chose Israel and made an everlasting covenant with the Jewish people. It teaches that God gave them the Torah as a covenantal way of life and the land as an eternal inheritance. Jewish believers in Yeshua, it teaches, have not left their heritage but are true sons and daughters of Israel. Jews and Gentiles together form one new man in Messiah. Most members are non-Jewish believers, alongside some Jewish believers. Part of the mission is helping Christians reclaim their Jewish heritage.

Philip Snell is head elder and congregational leader, serving with a plurality of elders who share the teaching and shepherding. On Friday evenings, Kesher Groups welcome Shabbat over a shared meal in leaders' homes across town. There is also a youth group for grades 7 through 12, Hebrew classes and a study called Foundations of Messianic Faith. Each year the congregation keeps Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, along with Hanukkah and Purim.
