Shoresh David Messianic Congregation

Messianic Jewish congregation · St. Petersburg, FL

About

Shoresh David St. Petersburg belongs to a network of Messianic synagogues in the Tampa Bay area. Sister congregations meet in Tampa and Wesley Chapel. In St. Petersburg, the community gathers for a Shabbat service on Friday evenings at 7:00. Bob and Valerie Warnick lead the St. Petersburg congregation. Rabbi Steve Weiler serves as senior rabbi for the whole network.

Families of Jewish and non-Jewish background worship together here, some born in the United States and some from abroad. The network describes its mission as building "a Messianic Jewish community and culture, for today and the next generation." It holds that Yeshua is the promised Messiah of Israel, prophesied in the Tanach and revealed in the B'rit Chadasha. The congregation affirms that Yeshua is fully God and fully man, and that salvation comes wholly by grace through faith. The good news, it teaches, is to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

The work began in 1991, when Stu and Dee Fabricant moved to Tampa. Their first gathering was a small fellowship of two couples around a dining room table. The network now also includes Congregación ConecTzion, which holds a Spanish-language service on Saturdays at 1:00 PM. Services in Tampa and Wesley Chapel are streamed on Facebook Live.
