Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue

Messianic Jewish congregation · Tampa, FL

About

Shoresh David Messianic Synagogues is a network of congregations in the Tampa Bay area, with communities in Tampa, Wesley Chapel and St. Petersburg. Jewish and non-Jewish people worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob together. In Tampa, Shabbat services are held Friday at 7 PM and Saturday at 11 AM. Wesley Chapel gathers Saturday at 10 AM, and St. Petersburg meets Friday at 7 PM. A Spanish-language congregation, Congregación ConecTzion, meets Saturdays at 1 PM.

The community holds that Yeshua is the promised Messiah of Israel, prophesied in the Tanach and revealed in the B'rit Chadasha. It affirms Yeshua as fully God and fully man, and teaches that salvation is wholly by grace through faith. Its stated mission is "to build a Messianic Jewish community and culture, for today and the next generation." The good news, they believe, goes "to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

The work began in 1991, when Stu and Dee Fabricant moved to Tampa. Two couples gathered around a dining room table to study Scripture as a Hebrew-Christian fellowship within a local church. Rabbi Steve Weiler now serves as senior rabbi, alongside Pat Weiler. Ed and Amanita Marvin lead the Wesley Chapel congregation, and Bob and Valerie Warnick lead St. Petersburg. Services in Tampa and Wesley Chapel are streamed on Facebook Live.
