Messianic Jewish congregation · Monroeville, PA
Shoresh David Messianic Congregation gathers in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, as a community of Jewish and non-Jewish people who worship Messiah Yeshua. It also goes by ROOT of David. Its calling is discipleship and outreach, "all within a Jewish expression." Shabbat and the biblical feasts are kept together, open to all who wish to do likewise.
The congregation holds that God made an everlasting covenant with Israel and gave the Jewish people the Torah and the land of Israel. Torah is understood as the constitution of the Jewish people and of the Messianic Jewish community. For believers from the nations it has a different role, offering spiritual nourishment as a witness to the Messiah. Jew and Gentile are seen as One New Man, following Yeshua together. The Good News goes to Jews and then Gentiles. Its beliefs follow those of TIKKUN America. The community also stresses the work of the Ruach HaKodesh, a five-fold expression of ministry, and a call to revival within the Messianic movement.
Shabbat morning opens at 10:15 with a liturgy and Torah service. Worship and a message follow at 11:15, with Shabbat School for children most weeks. An oneg potluck meal comes at 12:30, then teaching or an event at 1:30. Communion is taken monthly in keeping with Rosh Kodesh. A prayer team meets online on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to pray for Israel. Roeh Sam leads the congregation.
