Sukkat Shalom is a Messianic Jewish congregation in Arlington, Texas, where Jewish and Gentile believers worship together on Shabbat. The community calls this shared worship "an expression of the One New Man in Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel."
Its mission is to disciple Jews and Gentiles in Messianic Judaism so that Jewish identity is preserved in the body of Messiah. Teaching centers on Jewish identity, the ingrafting of the nations, healing and freedom, and hearing God. The congregation teaches Torah as Spirit-revealed biblical truth for growth and maturity in Messiah. It also holds that all believers stand as sons and daughters. Its reach is meant to be global, to the Jew first.
Shabbat services are built around liturgy, which the congregation understands as joyful worship rooted in Jewish tradition. Children receive age-appropriate Torah teaching, with a check-in and pick-up process for parents. Youth can prepare for Bar or Bat Mitzvah, help with children, run audio, video and lighting, or join the music band. After the service comes oneg, a potluck Shabbat fellowship meal. Members bring ready-made dishes and warm them on site, since they do not cook on Shabbat. Lunch is provided for guests, who need not bring anything.
