Beit Tefilah Messianic Congregation gathers every Shabbat in Creve Coeur, in the St. Louis area. Jewish and non-Jewish believers worship together here. They hold that the promised Messiah of Israel was revealed in Yeshua of Nazareth, and they describe their practice as Biblical Judaism.
Services begin around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday with a Torah Service, followed by worship through music and song and Torah study. An oneg follows, a shared afternoon meal eaten while the community studies the week's Torah portion, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha readings. Visitors will find a bimah, an ark holding a Torah scroll, kippot and a mezuzah on the door. Nursery care is offered for children under 6.
The congregation acknowledges Rabbinic halakhah but follows Apostolic halakhah. In practice it keeps some Rabbinic traditions while studying the New Testament instead of the Talmud. It teaches that Jewish believers in Yeshua remain Jewish. Gentiles who trust in Yeshua are understood as grafted into the olive tree, becoming spiritual sons and daughters of Abraham. The Jewish Holy Days are observed, with their fulfillment in Messiah. Beit Tefilah affirms that salvation has always been by faith. It also holds to the physical and spiritual restoration of Israel and supports the State of Israel. Part of its vision is helping the church understand its Jewish roots.
