Congregation Shaarey Yeshua

Messianic Jewish congregation · Indianapolis, IN

About

Congregation Sha'arey Yeshua is a Messianic Jewish synagogue in Indianapolis, Indiana. Its service is held Friday evenings at 7:30. For a time, that Friday service has been meeting on Facebook.

In Yeshua, generally known as Jesus, the congregation holds that it has found the Messiah promised to reconcile his people to God. It teaches that there is no conflict between the Torah and Tenakh and the New Testament. It also affirms that there is a valid Jewish expression of faith in Yeshua. Because Israel has an ongoing role in the plan of God, the congregation believes Jewish people must maintain a Jewish identity. Its members understand themselves as called to be "a Kingdom of priests and a holy nation" (Exodus 19:6).

Rabbi Jeffrey A. Adler leads the congregation. He comes from a family with five generations of Messianic Jews and is a native of Cincinnati. He holds a Master of Divinity degree. Since 1978 he has led Messianic synagogues in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. He has held offices in the Messianic Alliance of America and the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations. He has also taught Yeshiva courses for the IAMCS. Beyond the Friday service, the community has a youth program with its own youth rabbi and offers recorded Bible study teaching. A radio program, Gates of Salvation, airs Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on 1500 AM.
